Watch us in action
Susan Digby Eatwell OBE, our Founder and Principal, and Beth Hill, our most senior teaching staff member in London and the South East, outline our approach and aims in the videos below, featuring The Voices Foundation's work - these also demonstrate key aspects of our methodology in a practical setting.
Teaching Music Skills through Singing (approx 8 minutes)
Shot in 2011, this short video shows Beth working with a Year 4/5 class from one of our Beacon Schools, Ilderton Primary in the London Borough of Southwark. The film effectively recreates a typical classroom music session, which every non-specialist primary teacher in a school is trained to deliver during our 1-year in-school programme. The selection of songs featured highlight key aspects of our approach, and these songs are often developed and extended as part of the structured progression which our programme offers.
Take 10 Weeks - Singing School: Schoolsworld.tv (approx 45min)
This programme follows Susan working in Morley Memorial Primary School, Cambridge as she tries to fit a whole year's in-school programme into a 10-week period during 2007 - not an easy task!
Singing Steps with The Voices Foundation (approx 12min)
As an aide-memoire for those taking part in our Singing Steps Workshop Programmes, we filmed a demonstration lesson led by Susan in one of five schools taking Singing Steps in Cambridgeshire in early 2008. In this short film, she highlights some of the key skills and concepts introduced in Singing Steps, which form the building blocks of developing musicianship skills in children - and which are the cornerstone of our approach.
