Local Advisory Teachers
The Voices Foundation is developing hubs of Local Advisory Teachers (LATs) in partnership with Local Authorities and/or Music Services. LATs are employed by their Local Authority but trained and quality assured by The Voices Foundation. This enables local teachers to support local schools who have already received our In-School Programme. This also enables them to deliver our methodology in more schools than our own national network of ATs can reach, thereby benefiting more children and teachers. Once a partnership has been established, the Local Authority/Music Service will advertise, and/or nominate a number of suitable candidates who must fit the following criteria:
- Primary classroom teaching experience of at least three years.
- A higher qualification in music (degree, diploma).
- A commitment to helping improve the quality of music education.
The candidates will then be interviewed and observed teaching a music class before being accepted for training. The training follows a similar pattern to AT training, please click here for more information. (this will link to a page outlining the training and job of the AT
