Music Education in England: Mind the Music Gap

Voices Foundation is pleased to share the first in a series of #VFBriefing reports. ‘Mind the music gap’ takes a deeper look at the current state of Music Education in England and highlights some of the key findings from our  Singing Schools evaluation project that has been taking place in partnership with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) and David Ross Education Trust (DRET) since 2018.


Our programme evaluation, delivered by Sound Connections and Birmingham City University, evidences that our targeted, whole-school CPDL can make a difference to teachers' skills and confidence to integrate music activities into daily school life, but that systemic change within the education sector is also required to ensure that no child is left behind.
