Become a Singing School

Here at Voices Foundation, we're on a mission to inspire schools to use their voices and sing! Musical activity and education offer children the opportunity to participate in a uniquely multi-sensory experience, which benefits them in several different ways, including supporting their wellbeing, improving their confidence and self-esteem, and increasing their learning and attainment. Using our award-winning CPD programmes, we help schools become Singing Schools that provide children from all areas of the country, with access to enriching and inspiring music education.

We work directly with schools to bring singing into the classroom, as well as partnering with Music Education Hubs to provide training, resources, and strategic support. Our partnerships are highly collaborative, devising and implementing singing strategies, developing hub and school workforces, and building hub-wide capacity for music and singing in schools.

Our aim is to be accessible to all schools across England, no matter whether you’re located in central London or on the outskirts of Hull. We’re always happy to talk about your school’s musical goals and if you’d like to explore funding opportunities.

Primary School Programmes

We offer three primary singing school programmes to support your school in developing a progressive music curriculum. Our objective is to help teachers improve their skills and confidence in teaching music through singing.

Secondary School Programmes

We deliver strategic, long-term singing programmes for secondary schools, designed to change the way that music is viewed at the whole-school level and enhance the music curriculum for all pupils. We create bespoke programmes for your secondary school to reflect your needs and aspirations, from Choir leadership and delivery to support Musicianship.

Multi Academy Trust Partnerships

We have tailored bespoke partnerships for, and continue to work with, trusts such as David Ross Education Trust, Creative Education Trust and United Learning. If you are looking for consistency in music T&L across your trust, but a personal approach for each school with their individual context and goals, a strategic Voices partnership is for you.

Music Hub Programmes & other tailored training options

Our Artist Practitioners can deliver singing programmes and music training for Hub and School staff (Primary through to Secondary level), on sessions ranging from Musicianship training (rooted in Kodaly methodology) to Choral Delivery and Choir Development.

Primary Singing School Programmes

Musical Foundations

Musical Foundations supports your school or MAT in establishing a progressive music curriculum and develops teachers' skills and confidence in the teaching of music through singing. Through engaging CPD ranging from whole staff twilights to 1:1 classroom visits, our Artist Practitioners empower every teacher to undertake the teaching of music with the confidence and skill they use in other areas of the curriculum. Choral Excellence

Choral Excellence is for schools or MATs looking to take the next step in developing their musical skills and raise the profile of singing across their school. Through full day Choral delivery, classroom visits and Twilight training, this programme builds the foundational music skills of all KS2 teachers, as well as the leadership skills of 1-3 Choral Leads. These leads will then deliver whole school singing assemblies and year group choirs that raise pupil aspirations and further develop students’ musical skills outside of the classroom.

Advanced Singing School

Advanced Singing School combines the two strands of Musical Foundations and Choral Excellence into an intensive and truly transformative Continuing Professional Development programme for ambitious schools and multi-academy trusts. Two Artist Practitioners, one Musicianship and the other Choral, will work with your school or MAT simultaneously, visiting the school on average once every 2 weeks throughout the academic year. The impact we have seen from this programme is truly astounding.

What's involved?

Making music education simple and accessible  

We use singing as a tool to deliver music education because it is universal, accessible and a powerful way for children and adults to become proficient musicians. There are no equipment costs, and you can sing anywhere.
Empowering teachers to deliver high-quality music education 

Our unique model of teacher development provides iterative CPDL, developing teachers' knowledge, skills, and confidence in teaching music. Teachers are active partners in our training and are empowered to lead musical activity in their classrooms through practical work with the support of our expert artist practitioners.  
Working in partnership with you and your school every step of the way 

We listen to the unique challenges facing your school and tailor our programmes to best support you. We make sure the professional learning and development goals we're working towards are clear to everyone from the outset. 
Delivering programmes that are built on evidence and evaluation 

All our programmes use a progressive, evidence-based framework for teaching and assessing musical skills and concepts. Our work is subjected to continuous assessment, including the impact for pupils across areas such as literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing, in addition to musical skills.  
Bringing about long-term sustainable change to how you teach music
